charlesbrayCharles E. Bray Jr. has consulted with private, public and non-profit clients to develop, implement and manage Supplier Excellence, Business Incubation and Supplier Diversity Programs. He has also provided executive coaching, strategic planning, and entrepreneurial training in support of corporate suppliers. 

Recently Charles spearheaded the design and implementation of the Southern California Edison Supplier University (SCESU) program in support of Edison’s Supplier Diversity & Development department. In doing so he worked with SCE’s Sr. Procurement Managers ($4B total annual spend) to identify spend opportunities for diverse firms; developed tools to qualify vendors and acclimate them to the SCE business culture; managed a team of coaches, and also directly coached suppliers in strategic planning, marketing, sales, finance, and operations. The program resulted in over $30M in spend with diverse businesses over the initial 18 month pilot program.

In addition, Charles has over 15 years’ experience in sales, marketing and operations with companies such as Oracle, Hewlett Packard, and Taco Bell. As Director of Operations for the FAME Assistance Corporation, Charles managed a team of consultants that provided entrepreneurial training, loan packaging, and one-on-one consulting services to small business owners throughout California. Over the last 6 years, Charles has trained or consulted with over 600 Diverse Business Enterprises throughout California.

Community Involvement

Currently, Charles serves as a Board Secretary for National Association of Minority Contractors, Southern California chapter.  An ordained minister, he is also an active volunteer of the Zeta Rho Foundation, which focuses on mentoring urban youth.  

He is the former Vice-Chair of the Board of the Urban Media Foundation and serves as an Adjunct Professor of Marketing at West Los Angeles College.

Education

Charles has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and a Masters of Business Administration with 2nd year Honors from Harvard Business School.
