Comprehensive Framework for School Violence PreventionComprehensive Framework for School Violence Prevention, will be aired, Wednesday, October 25, 2000, 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. EST. Preventing school violence requires a careful examination of the people, resources, and activities that make up the school community. The first in a series of satellite videoconferences on school violence prevention from the Hamilton Fish Institute, Comprehensive Framework for School Violence Prevention features a comprehensive approach to school safety. Violence Against Women Act Passes!In a tremendous, hard fought and long overdue victory for battered women and the nation, the United States Senate this evening passed legislation to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act of 2000 (VAWA). VAWA was included in the Trafficking Victims Protection Act Conference Report, which passed in the House of Representatives last Friday by a vote of 371 to one. The Senate today passed the bill, 95 to zero. It will now go to President Clinton, who has long supported the bill and campaigned for its passage. The President has vowed to sign VAWA into law right away. 2000-10-11
